History

Although the city of Lordelo is recently created, it already possesses a note worthy musical tradition. It was on May 8, 1932, that Maestro Vergílio Pereira, head of the Orfeão Castro Araújo, constituted exclusively by rural workers of Lordelo, gained the first prize and gold medal in the 1st Choral Society Competition in Porto.

In order to revive this tradition, the Foundation «A Lord» sought to continue to make the population more musically aware, by cultivating a taste for music and to usefully occupy their leisure time.

The Choral society of the Foundation «A Lord» was created in 1999, with the purpose of interpreting capela vocal music in several languages. It seeks to have a diversified repertoire, embracing all possible styles.
